The IMSA WeatherTech Championship rolled into the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course, and the No. 23 Aston Martin THOR Team Valkyrie showed some of its best pace of the season before a late-race incident intervened.
Ross Gunn qualified the car tenth and wasted no time working forward, moving up to seventh through an opening-lap caution and into sixth by lap 16, a position he held until handing the car over on lap 48. Roman took over for the final hour and a half and continued the charge, climbing all the way to fourth before a late caution bunched the field back up.
Restarting fifth, Roman was forced off track in the ensuing scramble and dropped to ninth. He clawed back one position in the closing laps to bring the Valkyrie home eighth, completing all 112 laps.
With one round remaining, the team heads to Petit Le Mans looking to finish the season strong.
