In their second street race for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Series this season, Roman De Angelis and The Heart of Racing's No. 23 Aston Martin Valkyrie took to the streets of downtown Detroit for the 2025 Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix to claim an 8th place finish.

In Friday’s practice sessions, De Angelis muscled out a solid performance to put the team in eleventh position for the main event.

De Angelis took the reins for the first 20 laps of the 100 minute race, navigating the first full course caution which came only five minutes into the race. Gunn took over, after a well executed green flag pit stop and second caution slowdown, to hold ninth place and made a pass on lap 65 to climb to eighth for the team.

“I think it was definitely a difficult track for us,” said De Angelis. “It’s nothing like we’ve ever driven with the Valkyrie in the past. We knew it wasn’t going to be an easy weekend, but I think we made the most of it. We had another eighth place finish after starting eleventh. I think we made good progress, we stayed clean. The team just executed well all weekend long. I’m looking forward to going to some more normal-ish track with Watkins Glen and Road America, two of my favourite events.”

Roman and The Heart of Racing Aston Martin Valkryie look to continue their progress at the 24 Hours of Le Mans on June 14.
