This past weekend at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park, the No. 27 Heart of Racing Aston Martin Vantage had the pace to win — and a pit lane penalty that nearly erased it all.
Co-driver Dudu Barrichello put the car on pole and led the first 22 laps before a pit gun issue and a resulting drive-through penalty dropped the team to the back of the GTD field. A timely full-course caution helped recover the lost lap, and Barrichello worked his way back to 11th before handing over to Roman.
Racing at his home circuit in Ontario, Roman did the rest. He charged through the field over the final 45 minutes, battling for fifth on the last lap before crossing the line in sixth.
"It was kind of a day of what-could-have-been," Roman said, "but it was so nice to be back in the GT car with the 27 crew. I really enjoyed the weekend."
